Upcoming asteroidal events for INDIA

Brucia occults 7.4 mag star


On 2010 Apr 11 UT, the 36 km diameter asteroid (323) Brucia will occult a 7.4 mag star in the constellation Leo Minor for observers along a path across SE Asia, India.


In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 7.2 mag to 14.6 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 5.0 seconds.




Terpsichore occults 8.6 mag star


On 2010 May 10 UT, the 119 km diameter asteroid (81) Terpsichore will occult a 8.6 mag star in the constellation Auriga for observers along a path across India.


In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 2.0 mag to 10.4 mag (the combined magnitude of the asteroid and the other component of the double star) for at most 2.9 seconds.




Ogilsbie occults 5.0 mag star


On 2010 May 11 UT, the 37 km diameter asteroid (7476) Ogilsbie will occult a 5.0 mag star in the  constellation Virgo for observers along a path across Japan,China, India, Africa.


In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 9.3 mag to 14.3 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 2.7 seconds.
